While AMD and NVIDIA are consistently revising their GPU architectures, for the most part the changes they make are just that: revisions. It’s only once in a great while that a GPU architecture is thrown out entirely, which makes the arrival of a new architecture a monumental occasion in the GPU industry. The last time we saw this happen was in 2006/2007

Really hope this pans out for AMD, their Bulldozer cpu launch didn't really set the world on fire and I think they need a win right now :D. Even Intel fans have to realise that AMD keep Intel honest when it comes to new technologies.. otherwise this particular company would continue to palm off substandard speed bumps to the masses.
